So I made this quilt back in January when it was crazy all over Instagram. I love it. It's so fast and easy to put together. I'm posting about it because I'm making another one. Pretty much the same fabrics but I think I'll play around with the layout. I'm thinking a huge offset diamond. My husband has to go away for work next week so I have a million and one projects lined up to keep me busy after the little one goes to sleep.
Summer wardrobe
Tuesday, May 7, 2013
I think my girl is about set for the summer. Aside from the coat which I made back in February, I sewed these tops last week. All Oliver + S patterns except for the coat which is from Anna Maria Horner's book, Handmade Beginnings. All she needs now is a few basics and a bathing suit.
A dress for me
Saturday, May 4, 2013
So I made four new tops for my daughter which I still need to photograph and post about. After that though I made a dress for me. It's the staple dress pattern from April Rhodes. It's so easy. It was my first time shirring too. I used a linen that I got on sale a Joann's. I'm pretty happy with the results. I may do one more row of shirring to bring the top in a little more. I have a ton of the linen left over. I used a bit to make some bubble shorts for my daughter.
Dresden
Friday, May 3, 2013
I have been doing a lot of sewing lately. Like a ton. I will share everything over the next few days. Probably my favorite is this dresden plate that I started about a week ago. This project has been so much fun. I used only Tula Pink fabrics - most from The Birds and the Bees but there is one print from Saltwater and one from Prints Charming. I'm using Kona medium grey for the background and I *think* I'll use a shot cotton for the center circles. I have all 16 plates sewn together and now I have started hand stitching them down. I had never done this before but I really am enjoying it. Its nice to slow down and do some hand stitching every now and again don't you think?
