Megan Nielsen Dove Blouse

Thursday, September 7, 2017

Happy Thursday!!  I have another top to share today.

This is the Dove Blouse by Megan Nielsen sewn up in a Nani Iro double gauze (I'm trying to use my good stuff for once).  I sewed up version 1 in XS.  Since I'm smaller than the 34" bust this is drafted for it is a little bit big especially towards the back and under my arms.  In retrospect I should have accounted for this before jumping in and sewing but it really doesn't bother me too much.

This is a super quick satisfying sew.  There are two other options with flared sleeves which really dress up this top.  I'm a little more casual so I opted not to add those.

We're headed out of town for the weekend but I'm hoping to squeeze in a little sewing today and tomorrow morning :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

Grainline Studio Hadley

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

Hi there!  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!!  I have been sewing like crazy :)  I spent the first part of the year focusing on getting my portfolio beefed up and ready to send out (it is!!), making a skillshare class and not doing much sewing at all.  Now that those are complete I have the urge to sew everything!

This is the Hadley pattern by Grainline Studio.  I sewed up view B with no modifications.  I used some Nani Iro double gauze fabric purchased from Miss Matatabi about a year ago.

I made a size 2 (my bust is 32.5).  I just love how this top hangs with the high low hem.  The arm holes are so perfect, not too low.  The v in front is a little lower than I would normally wear but I really like it.

The neck, arm holes and hem are all faced which gives such a nice clean look on the outside.  I have a few other things planned to sew but may revisit this pattern soon to try view A.  All in all this is a really great pattern and sews up so quickly.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Wonderful Things Blog Tour

Monday, August 7, 2017

Hello!!  Welcome, welcome!  Today is my stop in the Wonderful Things blog tour!  Wonderful Things is Bonnie's latest collection for Art gallery Fabrics.  Its filled with lovely watercolor florals and positive affirmations.

I went a little nutty making things with this gorgeous line and I am so excited to share them with you.

First up, I made two leotards out of the fabulous knits.  The pattern is the Alley Cat romper and leotard by Lil Luxe Collection. It is a nice quick sew and oh so cute!!  I used the Aquarelle Study in Tint for this one.

It has a lovely scooped back.  I made a size 4 for my daughter.  She's 5 1/2 but pretty tiny still.  Her measurements are waist 20", hip 20.5", chest 20", girth 37" and height 42".

This second version I used Flower Glory in Evening.  I have to say my kiddo absolutely loves this print!  I was honestly a little surprised since she usually goes for pinks.  I think I may have to order some of the voile for her too.

This next outfit I made for her with school in mind (she's starting KINDERGARTEN in 2 days!!!).  I used the same knits as the leotards.  The top is the Symi Blouse by Lil Luxe Collection.

The top is super sweet with the flutter sleeves, cowl neck and front tie.  I went ahead and made a 5 for her to have a little room to grow.  The leggings are the Mini Virginia leggings by Megan Nielsen.  I have a hard time with leggings that fit my daughter and these are the best.  Most are way baggy on her and too short (even RTW).  I made her the 4/5 and added an inch to the length.  They are a teeny bit baggy but I did want growing room for her.

Last but definitely not least is this sweet little outfit.  The overalls are the Loveralls skirt by Petit a Petit + Family.  I used the Aquarelle Study Canvas.  They are seriously probably my favorite make of all time!

The tee is the Flashback Skinny tee by Made by Rae.  I used the Joy Crossroads knit in Azure and its the perfect compliment to the overalls.  I made both in a size 5 and she has plenty of growing room.

This is my daughter at the end of the shoot lol, she was pretty excited to be done.

Thank you so much for stopping by and thank you Bonnie for having me!!  Be sure to check out the lovely clutch Sarah made for Friday and what Wynn has in store for us tomorrow.  You can check out the full line up here.

A Couple of Recent Makes

Friday, July 28, 2017

AHHH, you guys!! Summer is flying by faster than I can handle right now!  Everything is good though :)  We signed my daughter up for summer camp to prepare her for kindergarten, she has been in preschool but just a couple times a week.  Summer camp was every day and boy did it tire her out!!  She really had a blast though.  We were also fortunate enough to have my mom come and stay for three whole weeks!!  It was amazing.  We did all sort of crafty things and mostly just hung out and talked.  It was the best!!

One of the things we sewed up was pj shorts for each of us.

I apologize for the crummy phone pic and lack of modeled photos lol.  They are both flamingo prints one is a Charley Harper double gauze (mom's) and the other is Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton + Steel cotton lawn (mine).  We used the Carolyn Pajama Pattern by Closet Case Files.  Everything sewed up super smoothly and they are so so comfy.  I may go up a size on my next pair just because I do like my pjs roomy (these fit perfectly fine though).

I also made this giant flower crown for my daughter just for fun :)

Hope you're all having a great summer :)
